About Purple Path Counselling

Purple Path Counselling was created to support individuals living with epilepsy and the emotional challenges that often accompany it.

Living with a long-term health condition can bring uncertainty, stress, changes to identity, and impacts on relationships, work, and family life. Purple Path exists to provide a safe, compassionate space where people feel understood and supported as they navigate these experiences.

At Purple Path Counselling, the focus is on person-centred, practical support that helps clients build resilience, manage stress, and regain a sense of confidence and control. The approach is warm, inclusive, and grounded in the belief that counselling is not just about coping, but about moving forward with clarity and hope.

About Laura

I was first diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 12, and it has been a part of my life ever since. Over the years, I’ve experienced the challenges that come with seizures, the impact on daily life, the effect on family, and the uncertainty of living with a health condition.

My journey eventually led to major brain surgery, an experience that gave me not only resilience but also a deep sense of empathy for others facing similar challenges. I know first-hand how overwhelming and isolating it can feel. These experiences gave me a strong sense of compassion and a desire to walk alongside others who may be navigating their own health or life challenges.

For many years I’ve been part of peer support groups, sharing stories, listening, and learning from others. This inspired me to pursue formal counselling studies, and I am now a qualified counsellor (registered ACA level 1) with a focus on supporting individuals and families adjusting to health conditions, stress, and related challenges. I have also continued with my studies and currently studying a graduate diploma in relationship counselling and my goal is to obtain my master’s in counselling.

My approach is compassionate, practical, and person-centered. I believe counselling is about more than just coping, it’s about building confidence, resilience, and hope for the future. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore what you’re going through, develop strategies for managing stress and uncertainty, and find strength to move forward.
